Genius Plaza Invites Parents and Students to Participate in the Learning Summer Victory Challenge
"Each year, we hear about summer learning loss and how it widens the achievement gap between lower- and higher-income students. At Genius Plaza, we are focused on the potential of every student, and creating a movement that is fun while helping us close that gap," said Michelle Emirzian, Chief Academic Officer, Genius Plaza.
Research shows that the estimated learning loss in math and literacy rates over the summer months is approximately one to 2.6 months of grade-level equivalency, with lower-income students seeing a greater impact. "We know there are geniuses in every zip code, which is why we are focused on providing access to all students. During the summer months, parents and students will have free access to our platform so they can read, practice math and vocabulary, play games, and even create content for ten minutes each day while winning prizes,'' added Emirzian.
The level of time a student should spend studying each day, ranges between 10 to 45 minutes, depends on their grade level.
Parents can access Genius Plaza at www.geniusplaza.com/summer and create accounts for their kids. Each week, Genius Plaza will announce new winners from those students completing at least ten minutes of work on the Genius Plaza platform.
